Upon my diagnosis of a new brain tumor, I quipped to my doctor at Yale, “I should’ve know something was up when Bob (my cat) was being more loving.”
For the last ten years, I have asserted that Bob is “15 pounds of love or anger, depending on his mood.” And now, this often cranky kitty is more loving. His big metamorphisis started in October 2019 when we moved to Connecticut. I think this is in large part because he has consistent devotion from multiple humans (aka my parents). He is particularly grateful for treats on demand. And while he has shifted in persnality to become moderately more affectionate, the latest shift within the last four months is staggering. Bob has decided I need a weighted blanket and he is just the mammal to help -- Fifteen pounds centered on my back or chest! Weighted blankets are often 10% of a person’s weight, (I am not 150 lbs), and by definition cover you in diffuse weight. They are not like a stone with tiny paws digging into your back or belly, making you feel guilty if you shift your weight. It’s not the easiest way to sleep, but for now, I am happy with this breathing blanket. Hopefully he won’t feel a need to be my blanket in June!
Hi lovely Sarah! Enjoyed your adorable post. Sending you positive and healing thoughts and prayers. I found a lucky penny the other day...and made a wish for u. <3 :)
Awe. I love Bob. Animals know... and when they’re on you it is hard to move...
One of my podcasters shared that his wife wanted a weighted blanket. So, he got her one—a 50-pound blanket! She was not happy. He bought her a 15-pound one and doesn't know what to do with the beast now. Bob is probably a better one.
