02/12/2021 Adjusting to the meds

When you’re told you’re going to have to start chemotherapy, you know there will be an adjustment to your daily routine... alarms to take medication and reminders to eat carbs and drink water.

I didn’t anticipate all the sensations I would have with my internal weather. Four days on the MEKinist and doxycycline, I’ve experienced:

Prickly skin

Slight wobbliness (it’s correcting)

Upset stomach

Metal taste in mouth

I’ve been successful in the goal to achieve 60-100 ounces of water daily, and now that I’m on MEKinist, I’m sleeping better because I’m not worried about when I can start.

I’m looking forward to adjusting to all this, where I feel as normal as possible and have mastered the water, carb, etc ratio.
