While my face regimen doesn't align with traditional scientific practices, estheticians helped me develop a regimen to combat my adult acne while living in Los Angeles.
Day and night: Use a gentle perfume-free cleanser. (I use La Roche Pousay.) Pat face dry after cleaning
Day: After cleansing, put on a light Vitamin C Serum (two drops) and let dry before applying next layer; Moisturize! I alternate between Cetaphil and Vanicream (as recommended by Dr. Lipper, my dermatologist) - I've been having good results by adding chamomile; let dry, then add sunscreen with a physical barrier like Zinc.
Night: After cleansing, I put on two drops of retinol serum; let dry, then I've been making a slurry mixture with stonecrop by Eminence and then using Cetaphil or Vanicream. For problem areas, I've been making a slurry with thicker Eucerne and aloe. Spot treat the face with the prescription metronidazole.
My derm likes the bleach bath idea 1x a week. For full-body bathing, he recommended alternating between CLn body wash, and the prescriptive sodium sulfacetamide.
We are meeting again May 12 to review skin and rash progress. So far, I'm very pleased with how my face is doing implementing L.A. suggestions.
